I want to tell you something that can help you play around with life in elegance, magic, and mastery.
When you understand your mind fights discipline all the time and is looking for shortcuts for you to get short term gains, what you have to do is approach discipline in small steps and rewards.
Rewards = hope. Hope is the O2 for humans. It adds clarity and it’s the opposite of “fear” that kills and adds noise.
A good example is fasting since it’s the holy month in Islam which started this week. A month for me of beautiful discipline, self mastery, and experimentation.
understanding my inner tools like gut. Understanding how each type of food and no-food affects my mind-body. Purifying myself as much as I can both mentally and physically.
Actually many Muslims think it’s only about fasting from food but they don’t understand how much it’s about purifying other things and food is only 1 part of the equation.
Since it’s up to 15 hours of fasting. For that what I did so I don’t struggle a lot, I already started training my self in small steps before it started not necessarily for food but more for cravings in my mind because controlling the mind is much harder sometimes.
Every time my mind wants something, I don’t fight it. I accept that, respect it, and trick it with a reward for later (which adds hope “O2”)
If you apply this to anything in life, you will be unstoppable!!! Remember discipline is hard but not when it combined with the softness of small steps, the magic of self awareness, and the beauty of rewarding.
